Founded in the late 17th century by Captain Thomas Halcombe, Teignmouth is a seaside town and fishing port that is located on the north bank of the mouth of the River Teign, close to Exeter, Devon.

The town was a thriving fishing port and then became a fashionable resort in Georgian times. The South Devon Railway made the town even more popular when it opened in 1841 so it has continued to evolve over time.

Today, the port still operates and the town remains a popular seaside and day trip holiday location.
